Applicants for programs taught in Chinese should demonstrate proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Chinese.
Similarly, applicants for programs taught in English should exhibit proficiency in English listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Proof of language proficiency must be submitted with the application.
The suggested certificates for language proficiency are as follows:

- Chinese-taught programs require a Chinese proficiency certificate, equivalent to the Test of Chinese Proficiency (TOCFL) Basic Level (A2) or above.
- Applicants who graduated from a senior high school where Chinese was the medium of instruction may be exempt from the test but must provide an official certificate from the awarding school, duly signed by the Dean or Head of Department (e.g., Malaysian Independent High School diploma), stating that the official teaching language is Chinese.

- Passing an internationally recognized English proficiency test, such as:
- TOEFL iBT: 63 or above
- IELTS: 5.0 or above
- TOEIC: 650 or above
OR providing proof from a previous educational institution that the official language of instruction was English.
- Students from countries on “The List of Nations with English as the Official or Common Language” (provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) are exempt from providing English proficiency test results.
- Applicants who graduated from a senior high school where English was the medium of instruction may be exempt from the test but must provide an official certificate from the awarding school, duly signed by the Dean or Head of Department.
