Undergraduate Program

Our curriculum aims to cultivate professional workforces for all aspects of digital entertainment industry following an industry-oriented and interdisciplinary educational policy. The goal of undergraduate education is to foster technicians skilled in developing multimedia and digital games, while graduate program targets at incubating researchers in studying digital entertainment industries and in developing experimental entertainment systems.

For the first semester of freshman year, preliminary courses in multimedia and game designing are widely introduced so as to provide a comprehensive understanding of the industry and discover students’ interests, preparing them for future specialties differentiations. 

Required Courses

Multimedia/ Game Planning Courses
Planning is not only the key factor in the quality of multimedia and game products but an indispensable expertise in leading a production team. The courses include introduction to digital games, game scripting, market survey and product planning, etc.

Website Design Courses
Websites serving as the platform for demonstrating multimedia products, a multimedia technician must be skilled at website designing and production. The courses include introduction to computers, website design and web server setup, dynamic html programming, and database programming, etc.

Interactive Media Design Courses
Websites serving as the platform for demonstrating multimedia products, a multimedia technician must be skilled at website designing and production. The courses include digital graphic design, graphic design, introduction to digital music, digital sound effect creation, interactive media creation, and interactive media design, etc.

Special Topics on Practices
A series of interdisciplinary practice courses are implemented in the junior and senior years. The courses aim to cultivate student’s practical experiences, teamwork spirit and professional attitudes through cooperation trainings. The courses included project practice, integrated project planning, special projects, and graduation projects, etc.

Specialties Courses
Targeting at multiplicity and professionalism, we establish four specialties programs for students to major in apart from the required courses that provide rudimental knowledge. Multiple specialties courses are open for students to take according to their interests.

Elective Courses
The courses aim to cultivate professionals in digital animation creations, development of game and entertainment systems, multimedia film creations, and interactive art creations. Our another object of the department is to develop into the center for research and development of digital entertainment, conducting researches on topics such as game testing and user experiences, new-type entertainment system development, mobile entertainment techniques development, and digital entertainment industry studies, etc. 

(1) 3D Animation Program
The 3D animation programs aims to foster 3D animation professionals. Future career options include animation creation, game art visual design, 3D media application, etc. The core courses include construction of digital models, digital modeling, game art practice, 3D role models, and the special topic on 3D animation creation.

(2) Programming Program
The programming program targets at cultivating multimedia software programmers. Future career options involve game software development and multimedia programming, etc. The core courses include object oriented programming, computer graphics, digital image process, and game artificial intelligence, etc. 

(3) Film Design Program
The film design program aims to cultivate film and music producers. Future career options involve film making, sound effects/ music production, and after effects of films, etc. The core courses include basic filmmaking, digital sound effects production, editing and special effects, and music practice.

(4) Interactive Creation Program
The interactive creation program targets at fostering professionals in new-type interactive entertainment. Future career options include the development of interactive entertainment products, design and application of interactive multimedia, development of new-type entertainment models, etc. The core courses include contemporary art trend, analysis of image language, creation and presentation of multimedia, and intermedia space creation, etc.
